Condemnation

What is condemnation, and where does it come from? Well condemnation is the devil's attempt to steal your faith in God and your self-worth. If the devil can make you feel guilty about your life or past mistakes, even the ones that God has already forgiven you for, then he can steal your faith, peace, and your confidence in God's love for you. If you stop believing that God loves you, then what hope do you have?

Hebrews 4: (NKJV): Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly (confidently) to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need

Definition of Condemn (Merriam-Webster): to say in a strong and definite way that someone or something is bad or wrong; to give (someone) a usually sever punishment; to cause (someone ) to suffer or live in difficult or unpleasant conditions.

When the devil uses someone to attempt to condemn you with your past, it is usually because you are shining for Christ and he (the devil), hates to see God get any glory. The trickster will even go so far as to twist the scripture in an attempt to deceive you into condemnation. You must read the word for yourself, and remember who you are in Christ. Remember that Jesus sent Holy Spirt to convict the word of sin, not bury it in condemnation.

John 16:8-11 (NKJV): "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Holy Spirit) will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

Today, if you are being condemned by someone, don't allow yourself to be dragged into a swamp of guilt, especially if you have already repented and God has forgiven you of your sin. If God has wiped your slate clean, then no man has been given permission from God to drag you into condemnation. This person is acting of their own will and not the will of God. Here is a similar account of men attempting to condemn someone:

John 8:3-11 (NKJV): Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?" This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, "Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?" She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin on more."

I love God because He is so fair, merciful and kind. Imagine if our hope was in the hands of unstable mankind, who will love you today and hate you tomorrow. Our fate is not in the hands of each other, but in the hands of God, through His Son, Jesus, who died for us and loves us with such a great and unmeasurable love! Jesus is who loves us, and sent Holy Spirit to convict us of sin, NOT condemn! Always ask yourself these questions when you are being attacked with condemnation: 1) Who is condemning you; 2) Why, and do they have something to gain by condemning you 3) Have you repented of the issue 4) Are you condemned or convicted? If you are convicted, then you are feeling a pull on your heart to stop sinning against God. Obey that pull on your heart to change because that is Holy Spirit gently trying turn you away from sin and into the loving arms of Jesus, who will gently restore you from sin.

I will end by saying that it will serve you well to know the difference between Condemnation and Conviction, there are many who will try to deceive you for their own satisfaction and self gratification; but God will not be mocked, and He will always protect those who are His!
